Reading Recovery Tutor - Sydney, Australia

Job Summary
Providing training and profesional support for Reading Recovery teachers.
  • Supporting and coordinating Reading Recovery implementation within and across schools. 
  • Training Reading Recovery teachers
  • Providing ongoing professional support for Reading Recovery teachers
  • Consulting with Public Schools NSW personnel on Reading Recovery implementation and evaluation of the program
  • Implementing Reading Recovery on a daily basis
  • Supporting early literacy initiatives
  • Working collaboratively with other professionals and school communities
  • Communicating effectively both orally and in writing with schools and Public Schools NSW officers
  • Working to a high standard within a team environment.
Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of Reading Recovery Tutors from 27 January 2017 for a period of up to 12 months. The positions will be located at:

Bathurst, Broken Hill, Macquarie Park (0.5FTE), Nirimba, Riverwood, Wagga Wagga and Warilla

Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience with the K-12 range.

Must be a trained Reading Recovery tutor with demonstrated ability to provide training and ongoing professional development for teachers.

Demonstrated commitment to participating in accreditation processes.

Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum content and understanding of current trends in teaching, learning, and student well being.

High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive written records.

Demonstrated success in leading and monitoring the work of teachers.

Experience in the use of systems to analyse, record, manipulate, store and retrieve data.

Capacity to innovate, problem solve and develop creative solutions to emerging issues.

Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies.
