Keynote Speaker Julia Douetil

Julia DouetilWith a background in teaching and teacher education, Julia Douëtil was one of the first two European trainers for Reading Recovery in 1992. She has worked since then to establish, promote, and support Reading Recovery in the four countries of the UK, in the Republic of Ireland, and in Denmark. Her work on the real cost of literacy difficulties helped to persuade the UK government to fund a national rollout of Every Child a Reader, a layered approach to literacy intervention with Reading Recovery at its heart. As head of the European Centre for Reading Recovery at the University of London Institute of Education, her focus is on implementation; but Julia continues to work closely with, and to write for, teacher leaders and teachers, and she has not lost her special ability to engage young children.

Exhibitors are invited to showcase their products and services at the Institute. Please email Ted Phillips or call 614-310-7337.
